MBBS Admission in India

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is one of the most preferred and prestigious courses in India. By completing a MBBS degree, candidates become qualified doctors. Pursuing MBBS is a challenging task.

MBBS students are tested at every stage of becoming a doctor. While lakhs of students every year dream of studying medicine, only few manage to secure MBBS admission in India. Getting a MBBS seat is a highly competitive affair. As many as 15 lakh aspirants compete for just 80,055 MBBS seats recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) every year. The very first challenge candidates face to get MBBS admission is qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts NEET exam once a year. NEET-UG is the single national level entrance test conducted for MBBS admission in India, as recognised by the Supreme Court of India. Admission to 1,899 MBBS seats in AIIMS institutions and 249 seats in JIPMER is also granted through NEET exam. A total of 542 medical colleges, 15 AIIMS, and 2 JIPMER institutions grant MBBS admission based on NEET result. The competition for MBBS admission in India is increasing exponentially. For last year of the 13.66 lakh students that appeared for NEET exam, only 7.71 lakh were declared qualified for MBBS admission.

    NEET UG -2021

    What is NEET UG -2021

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate or NEET UG , formerly the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is an all India pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and AYUSH (BAMSBUMSBHMS, etc.) courses in government and private institutions in India and also, for those intending to pursue primary medical qualification abroad.[2]The exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State Counselling Authorities for seat allocation.[3

Why is NEET UG – 2021

The exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State Counselling Authorities for seat allocation.[3NEET-UG  replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and many other pre-medical exams conducted by states and various medical colleges. However, due to lawsuits being filed against the exam, it could not be held in 2014 and 2015. NEET-UG is a single entrance test for admissions to more than 66,000 MBBS and BDS seats across India.[4]After the enactment of NMC Act 2019 in September 2019, NEET-UG became the sole entrance test for admissions to medical colleges in India including the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) which until then conducted.

What Is the Benifits Qualify NEET UG 2021 Exam.

NEET UG 2021 is a uniform entrance examination for admission to MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BSMS/BUMS/BHMS and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized Medical/Dental /AYUSH and other Colleges/ Deemed Universities /Institutes (AIIMS & JIPMER) in India, as per Section 14 of The National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019 and relevant Graduate Medical Education Regulations (GMER) 1997, as amended from time to time.

    How Competitive is NEET?

Easiest way to answer this is to lay out some statistics. Last year (2020), 15. 97 lakh aspirants all over India filled out the form for the NEET examination. 13. 66 lakh students appeared for the exams and of these 7.71 lakh students qualified in the examinations. Qualifying scores are decided by the NTA and declared on their website after the exams are conducted. The Grading is based on the Percentile scoring method (watch out for an article on the percentile grading system ) and based on the category and the rank the student can decide which college they would like to apply to. Mere qualification however is not enough since seats to the coveted government medical colleges are limited and this makes the competition stiff. According to data provided by MCI (Medical Council of India) and MoHFW, (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) as many as 272 MBBS colleges offer a total of 41,388 government medical seats through NEET. Further, While using NEET scores, 80,055, MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, and 525 BVSc & AH seats offered in colleges of India. The data speaks loud and clear. Levels of competition are pretty tough and the candidates need to be all in so that they are able to cut the grade.
What will be the NEET UG – 2021 Qualifying Cutoff? The cut off scores of NEET 2021 will be announced along with the result on the official website. The minimum NEET 2021 cut off marks must be secured to pass the offline medical entrance examination. The minimum marks that are required in NEET for MBBS or other medical courses vary every year. The category-wise NEET UG 2021 cutoff percentile and scores are as follows; General – 50 SC/ST/OBC – 40 General PwD – 45 SC/ST/OBC PwD – 40
